I am a postgraduate student and I honestly believed at postgraduate level, working in groups would be as easy as pie because everyone is now a mature student and they understand the importance of obtaining this qualification, right? Well, I was wrong! It still comes with a lot of headaches. Accommodating people's bloated egos and your own too, LOL, is not a walk in the park. Be that as it may, I have learnt to appreciate the beauty that comes with it. It is an opportunity to network and build new professional relationships.

I have never been the type of student who got distinctions, not even an A candidate in high school, but because of determination I pressed on and made it to University and I am now doing my 3rd year. I failed and rose again. I never let the thought of giving up or drop out pass my mind.

It is important that students have passion in their school work in order to excel. I believe passion devotes students to their schoolwork, bringing out all the energy that helps them to stay focused and keeps them away from distractions.

Having passion is as good as a journey navigated on the GPS, because the journey inevitably reaches its destination.

Have you ever wondered what the world would be like if there was no social media? Can you remember the good old days when you were too young to care about how many virtual friends/followers you got because you cared more about making real friends?

I have often heard people say politics is a dirty game. Many a times when l try to engage fellow students in dialogue they are quick to show boredom; Why did you choose Public Management they ask. Why not pick something more understandable like Accounting or HR? Well…

This is my story:

In the 3rd. grade, a girl called Liz and the other kids would laugh at me whenever I said the word “CHOCOLATE”. They would rub it in my face that I could not pronounce tʃɒk(ə)lət/ or “choklat” like normal people do. It didn’t matter that I was generally good at reading and writing or that I got praise from my teacher for being the best in diction that darn word CHOCOLATE always got in the way.

Being a student often times means good health is not a top-of-the-list priority – class attendance, assignments, tests, exams, having a social life- take centre stage. Funds are limited and there is little to no time to look after numero uno. Worry not because there are actually ways to maintain your health without spending all your precious money on gym membership, exotic detoxing herbs and exorbitant doctor’s appointments.  

Avoid regular alcohol intake

Adventure is a sure way to gain interesting experiences, knowledge and stories you can laugh about later (Because you know they sure as heck may not be funny in that moment). In my opinion, the biggest and most rewarding adventures include leaving your comfort zone and throwing yourself courageously into the unknown. That was me a couple of years ago, at the threshold of an adventure I might regret or enjoy. There was only one way to find out.
