Being a student often times means good health is not a top-of-the-list priority – class attendance, assignments, tests, exams, having a social life- take centre stage. Funds are limited and there is little to no time to look after numero uno. Worry not because there are actually ways to maintain your health without spending all your precious money on gym membership, exotic detoxing herbs and exorbitant doctor’s appointments.

Be Open to Adventure

  • Posted on: 24 April 2017

Adventure is a sure way to gain interesting experiences, knowledge and stories you can laugh about later (Because you know they sure as heck may not be funny in that moment). In my opinion, the biggest and most rewarding adventures include leaving your comfort zone and throwing yourself courageously into the unknown. That was me a couple of years ago, at the threshold of an adventure I might regret or enjoy. There was only one way to find out.

Success

Success not about running the biggest business ever or driving a vrrphaaa, success is about how you made it, what you went through for you to get that business and drive that R32.Success is about the achievement of a goal. If you don’t sacrifice for what you want, what you want becomes the sacrifice. Honesty and loyalty are the key masters’ of success. If you want to succeed, prepare and do what you love. With preparation you create your own opportunities.

University is bigger than the classroom

We are three months into 2017, and as far as I’m concerned this year is nearly over- it’s going so fast! But well, there will be those that feel like March has dragged on. Especially considering that UNAM has already had a semester break and the next time we are sniffing any type of holiday will be sometime mid-April.

I really detest getting my hair done. It is such a traumatic experience for me. I am not at all melodramatic but I never know if I will look great or if I will look like a circus clown, not to mention sitting for hours is really torturous. But if I am to be taken seriously in this world I just have to suffer for beauty. If anyone ever told you looks do not matter, they lied!

Have you ever been at a point in your life where all you can think about is everything that is just going wrong around you? Well, I can relate because a few months ago my thoughts seemed to only consist of all my failed goals. My perception was coloured with self-disappointment, making me feel like the world around me…my life really… was a disaster. It felt as if life was just whizzing by and I could do nothing to stop it, there were no solutions to my problems in sight.

The New Year has begun!

Does anyone else remember that song “Back to school, back to reality”? And if there are any out there like me, all you really looked forward to was meeting up with friends and telling them all about the cool holiday you had -even if you have to invent a few stories so you don’t look uncool! The new stationary was a plus as well, until a few pages into the new writing book and you suddenly don’t feel like this homework anymore! I digress.

Sam Ndungula

Sam Ndungula, a NUST Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics and Statistics graduate is a seasoned poet who has graced Windhoek’s Spoken Word stage several times. He performs under the moniker, Delusional Sam, which, he says, is like his alter ego. It is a name given to him by friends who say his performance persona is a stark contrast to his real personality.

Sam, however, prefers to call himself “The Prodigal Surrogate Son.”
